Some people will call it stupid, and some will laugh at the idea, of meeting people through the internet. But think about it, it is much  more comfortable. Sitting on your chair at home, talking with a few people together, no one to look at you strangely, all fun. Sounds like dating heaven, well, not exactly,  There are a few dangers, but with a little common sense you can avoid them.

Did you know that you can actually find  real friends and other singles over the internet, peoples who have the same interests as you, find new and good friends, even marriages have been performed on-line.
With today's technology you can meet onoine friends in many different ways and places.

First and the oldest place on the internet are the simple regular chat rooms, with all the new technologies chat-rooms are still the place for a lot of internet users to meet new people, and to chat with your current on-line friends, but there is a little disadvantage, you can't see where your on-line friend is on-line, yo have to go tothe chat and search for him, unless you set a time to meet there.

The second way to talk and meet on-line friends is Instant Messages Applications. and  Net meeting, which are today the most popular methods for searching and talking on-line. The huge advantage is that you can see whenever your friends are on-line or off-line, and search for specific people. You can also leave messages to you friends, and see all the history of your chat session.

The newer and more effective way, include the  Instant Messages Applications but with a add-on that allow you to communicate by camera too, so you can chat and see or even talk with your friends on-line, exactly like meeting eye to eye, but online. Well, not the same, but very similar.

Another way to communicate through the internet are forum and groups on-line. in this case the communication is not in real-time but a group of people unite under the same area. (Community)

The latest technology allows you to make a phone call from the internet, it is called VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol), you can actually talk, like a phone, from your computer. From all the methods that are mentioned, this is the only one that generally costs money, but it cost much less then regular calls from home or cell-phones. There are some for free too. 

As you can see the internet gives us every method of communication you can ever think of.
Try to use it wisely, and be careful, the inetrnet can also be a very dangerous place, but if you are very carefull then evetything will be ok.
